Write about a time when you did something out of the norm. What was it and how did others react?

Image
Prompt: Write about a time when you did something out of the norm. What was it and how did others react? Prompt Response: I doubt I can remember anything specific, one out of the norm I possibly had done was being selectively mute in middle school. It was obvious I had some issues by the way I acted and dressed but that didn't bother me, when I was mute I can recall how it bothered some people. Immature boys also wouldn't leave me alone and would consistently try to get a reaction out of me, which by the way I had this poker face, but it was useless. They had their pride hurt that they kept trying everyday and laughed with their friends, I was extremely good at ignoring and living life. Summary: Today we worked on our Heart of Emotions sheet, where the heart is separated by the Logical Mind and the Emotional Heart, each side gets items that represent them and colors. The logical mind will be blue and gray while the Emotional side gets to have warm colors such as Red or Pink. W...

Write about an adventure you would like to go on.

Prompt: Write about an adventure you would like to go on. Prompt Response: An adventure I would like to go one is to visit different countries and eat whatever meal they got, I strive to live longer to reach that goal because I had seen so many travelers eating so good I got jealous. I will document the food, pictures, journals, and a data sheet, I probably will either bring a friend with me or go alone and have it all for myself.  Summary: Today we first took notes with Mr. Rease on Emily Dickinson, we had each one of us to take out a piece of paper to write on, we learned that this woman was reclusive and seems to be introverted. We also learned how her pieces were barely published and they only got famous after she died, we guessed that she probably didn't publish as much because she just wrote for herself and didn't want the attention. Afterwards we analyzed and interpreted a poem of hers, learning how to analyze a poem as Mr. Rease guides us.  Reflection: I had lea...

Dickinson uses the metaphor of a funeral to describe her inner struggles. What metaphor would you use to describe your own mind?

Prompt: Dickinson uses the metaphor of a funeral to describe her inner struggles. What metaphor would you use to describe your own mind? Prompt Response: I could use the metaphor of an attic or scatterbrain to describe my own mind, because I like to think a lot and most times it doesn't really be organized or doesn't come out right. I can forget things and I can have many ideas or no ideas at all, even if I were to get an idea I wouldn't know how to put it into words or on paper. Summary: Today we looked over two poems with Mr. Rease, we analyzed the poems and basically translate it in a way we can understand. The two poems "Heart We Will Forget Him!" and "I felt a Funeral, in my brain," by Emily Dickinson. We went over their themes and the meaning of certain words in the poems.  Reflection: I am starting to learn some ways on how to interpret poems and how simple it sometimes can be if you put your mind into it. From what I read I can also see where Emi...

Describe something you will never fully understand.

Prompt: Describe something you will never fully understand Prompt Response: There is something that I will never fully understand, that will be probability or statistics. This form of math has been a curse to me, a burden, one that will never go away no matter what grade I go on. From 7th grade we will first learn this, mind you I got a teacher who had a math degree but not a teaching degree, I had just recently moved into that middle school and they were already messing me up. I will never forget this, how everyone went ahead of me while I sat there lost with no friends to ask nor a teacher to pay attention to me and this is where my hatred began for probability or statistics.  Summary: Today we had done our presentations on our Origin Myth stories with our posters, each student will get 2 minutes to present their summary, theme, characters, etc. They were creative and different, the stories were also interesting enough.  Reflection: There wasn't really much to learn from thi...

Write about something that you wish you had more of.

Prompt: Write about something that you wish you had more of.  Prompt Response:  There are many things I wish I had more of, maybe I wish to have more motivation since that had dictated my life, I am not sure what it really is called but I really don't have many goals or dreams to pursue. I mean I can think of something but I am not passionate about it enough to push me to reach it. But it's just something I need to work on so I can't complain if I haven't done something to change it, realistically the world will not wait for me. Summary: We were urged to turn in our origin Myth stories, for those who didn't turn it in yet, and had the whole class time to work on our visual representations. I must say that I did turn it in that time and started to work on my visual representation, I was trying to get used to the tools in the Adobe app. I worked on the information on word so that I can transfer it on Adobe soon. Reflection: There wasn't really much to learn from...

What is the most creative thing you have ever made? Share what it was and explain why it stands out as your best work.

Prompt: What is the most creative thing you have ever made? Share what it was and explain why it stands out as your best work. Prompt Response: The most creative thing I had probably ever made is this ceramic paint palette I made last year for the first semester in Art class, I don't really make many awesome creative things so this my only good work that I did. The assignment was to make it look like an object or animal, I made it into a crescent moon with a cloud, it functions as a paint palette that I still use it frequently.  Summary:  For block day, we were given the time to complete our Origin Myth stories, the entire class time was used for this. I did try to think thoroughly and come up with a story right there, Mr. Rease said that most of his students manage to finish their stories in one single block period. The assignment doesn't have a due date but he expects it to be finished soon because it should not be that hard and especially if you are procrastinating.  R...

Everyone has burning questions about life. Mysteries we wonder about but don’t always have clear answers for. Think about your biggest questions about existence, purpose, or the world around you. Write a blog post where you share at least two of your most burning questions about life and explain why these questions matter to you.

Prompt: Everyone has burning questions about life. Mysteries we wonder about but don’t always have clear answers for. Think about your biggest questions about existence, purpose, or the world around you. Write a blog post where you share at least two of your most burning questions about life and explain why these questions matter to you. Prompt Response: One of my most burning questions is how does one stay happy long enough, I think why this matters to me is because when I was younger I've been angry or annoyed a lot with only some brief happiness that can go away easily, I wondered why does it go away quite easily. Another burning question I have is how to continue on with life when there is so much suffering to deal with, why this matters to me is because I see how awful the world can be and wondered how do people really live with it. Summary: Today we talked over the new  Narrative Writing Assignment of Origin Myth, Mr. Rease went on how we will create and write our own origin ...

Describe a time you felt completely lost

Prompt: Describe a time you felt completely lost.  Prompt Response: I cannot remember the last time I felt completely lost, maybe during any time I don't understand anything while everybody understands it faster than me. There was a core memory in third grade when we were all learning our multiplying skills, our teacher taught a hand skill for the number 9 multiples, everybody was understanding it better than I was and it was frustrating at the age of 8. No matter how much she explained to me hand to hand, which was humiliating for me, I never understood what she meant and I learned to this day I haven't changed much. Today we went through presentations over the origin myth "The Jealous Father", it went by smoothly and through it I realized me and my group didn't name our project correctly like the rest of our classmates. We were told to look into the audience with full eye contact while one person reads their part. Today I learned more from the presentations of...

Analyze how you’ve adapted to the demands of this course over the past week, and evaluate one strength and one challenge you anticipate as we progress, justifying your insights with personal examples.

Prompt:  Analyze how you’ve adapted to the demands of this course over the past week, and evaluate one strength and one challenge you anticipate as we progress, justifying your insights with personal examples. Prompt response: This past week I seemed to have been doing well to the demands of this course, there wasn't anything too confusing nor hard, going to a nice pace that I like. I anticipate the one challenge I probably will struggle with is writing an essay in general, I had gotten worse with my writing and critical thinking during my time in highschool. One strength I anticipate is getting better with my critical thinking in some way.  Today we did a closed lockdown then afterwards we will take a quiz on Origin Myth, reading a text first then answer 14 questions. After we are done with the quiz we are to do finishing touches to our project with our group and Mr. Rease looked over the questions with us, looking over question 3, 6, and 8.  Today I learned how th...

Describe a real-life situation in which jealousy negatively affected a relationship you experienced.

Prompt : Describe a real-life situation in which jealousy negatively affected a relationship you experienced.  Prompt Response: I never been in a relationship for that to happen nor did it happen between any normal relationships I have with my friends or family. Unless we are talking about my childhood drama with this girl I was supposedly friends with in elementry, Nicole was her name and she was jealous of me being friends with this other girl I ride the bus with, always making threats to stop being friends with me if I continued to hang out with the other girl. Of course I somewhat did listen to her for a bit because I was scared of being disliked and losing friends, but I still went back to talking to the other girl either way. From that day we weren't friends anymore. Summary: Today we read the text "The Jealous Father" with Mr. Rease, it turns out we find out how a robin was created in the end and the assignment today was to work with your group for a project. We wo...

Write about a meaningful object or place in your life that carries a story.

Prompt:  Write about a meaningful object or place in your life that carries a story. I have this bear that glows, shes pink, has a nice tutu skirt, 6 blue strands of hair and pink shoes, the name I've given to her was 'Light Bear'. The story behind this bear was when I was 6 years old and was scared of the dark a lot, of course when I looked to the right side of my mom's bed I saw a glowing object, this object glowed so bright, being my lifeline. Every night I slept with the same bear which helped ease my fears, she still glows dimly today and kept her close to me for 11 years.  Today in class we read the text " NAVAJO CREATION", it was about an origin myth story with the theme emphasizing to avoid conflict with others and try to work out your problems. The story has some similarities to the bible, making biblical allusions, including the creation of Earth, humans, plants and animals.   Today there really wasn't much to learn about this lesson but it did ...

Write about a time you felt connected to nature, like the kinship in Native American myths.

Prompt:  Write about a time you felt connected to nature, like the kinship in Native American myths. Prompt response: The time I had felt connected to nature was when I was around 8 years old, I went to hike with my family and my dear aunt. We met squierrels, birds, and the everyday plants, the river was nice as well to ride a boat on especially when I lost my aunt's hat forever in it. I really did connect with nature when I almost drowned in the river with the fishes. We took many pictures together with the random animals, it was a nice kinship with my family, one I'll cherish with my aunt forever now that she isn't here anymore.  Summary: Today we had a lesson that went over Native American Literature, through a PowerPoint we also learned the characteristics of myths in Native American Literature.  Reflection: This gave me new knowledge about the Native American Literature, which I didn't know existed as a lesson to teach, I relearned words again today and I felt like...
