Both poems by Robert Frost explore the passage of time and life’s changing moments. Write about a time when something in your life changed more quickly than you expected. How does this experience connect to Frost’s idea that “Nothing gold can stay”?

Prompt :  Both poems by Robert Frost explore the passage of time and life’s changing moments. Write about a time when something in your life changed more quickly than you expected. How does this experience connect to Frost’s idea that “Nothing gold can stay”? Prompt Response:  I knew that friendships do not last that long and can eventually end, I just didn't expect to be arguing with one during 5th period in Spanish class when I was a freshmen. Our friendship was a trio, things were going well and we never had an argument before until that day, that was the day she decided that she did not want to be friends anymore. Instead of talking to us and have a conversation she sent it over text during school, this change was quick and unexpected. After years of being friends since 7th grade and after all those memories, she quickly cut us off over our first argument. This connects to the idea of the poem, that not everything can go well and that it really does come unexpectedly...

In the poem, the speaker and his neighbor meet each year to repair a wall. Describe a time when you had to set or respect a boundary with a friend, family member, or classmate. How did it help or hurt your connection with that person?

Prompt:    In the poem, the speaker and his neighbor meet each year to repair a wall. Describe a time when you had to set or respect a boundary with a friend, family member, or classmate. How did it help or hurt your connection with that person? Prompt Response: I had these two friends who did not like physical touch and had set their boundaries about it, I respected their boundaries and never touched them unless they initiated it first, such as a hug. This helped to ease our relationship with each other and we each grew onto another, eventually some hugs would be allowed and hair brushing. I am not friends anymore with one of them, it was not because of boundaries but some other unrelated problems. I am still friends with the other one though, we each have our boundaries on some things and as long as we respect them, there won't be any problems. Summary: Today Mr. Rease was not here today and instead we were given an assignment to do on Commonlit, it is a poem called "M...

As we think about our upcoming Vocabulary Monday, tell me what is your favorite word RIGHT NOW? Why is it your faovorite word and how often do you use it

Prompt:   As we think about our upcoming Vocabulary Monday, tell me what is your favorite word RIGHT NOW? Why is it your favorite word and how often do you use it. Prompt Response: My favorite word right now is 'son', I do not have a son but I use this word a lot to call people that when I'm playing games and it's what I call my friend from time to time. I would usually say "Good job son" or "I'm proud of you son" whenever my friend accomplishes something. I do not know why it is my favorite word, just that it sounds nice and it's funny when they respond "thank you father." My friend even decided to say it back to me sometimes and this other person that we play with, she says it in Spanish too, "Okay Mijo." Summary: Today we continued to work on our projects, we were given the whole class and were told to turn in the project during the weekend right before Monday. It is expected to be seen by Mr. Rease on Monday and when ...

In “Birches,” Robert Frost celebrates imagination as a way to escape life’s difficulties and reconnect with innocence. The speaker wishes to “get away from earth awhile” but also understands that he must eventually return to reality. Think about the role of imagination in your own life. How does imagination help you cope with challenges, boredom, or stress?

Prompt:   In  “Birches,”  Robert Frost celebrates imagination as a way to escape life’s difficulties and reconnect with innocence. The speaker wishes to “get away from earth awhile” but also understands that he must eventually return to reality. Think about the role of imagination in your own life. How does imagination help you cope with challenges, boredom, or stress?  Prompt Response: It helped a lot to get through quarantine and through my boredom, since I had no friend connections at the time nor did I have a good relationship with my family I had to use my imagination into things and while also watching shows that helped ease my boredom. During my years in middle school, I used imagination to help entertain me during school hours since I did not make any friends at the time and they were strict on the phones and laptops. During elementary I also did not have many friends nor did I like playing with the other kids so I would be alone using my imagination as...

After reading “Out, Out—” by Robert Frost, reflect on a time when you faced a dangerous or high-pressure situation that demanded your complete focus. What made the situation risky, and how did your concentration affect the outcome?

Prompt:  After reading  “Out, Out—”  by Robert Frost, reflect on a time when you faced a dangerous or high-pressure situation that demanded your complete focus. What made the situation risky, and how did your concentration affect the outcome? Prompt Response: I don't think I've ever faced a dangerous situation in life, besides driving. Huddle up people, so during the summer my mom thought it was best to teach me how to drive all around, she even had me drive on highways. There's probably a chance we faced danger everyday since I almost crashed every single day, every one of those days I had to immediately focus. One day we were driving peacefully down a long road, I noticed from afar there was a car trying to cross the road to the next and I didn't think they would cross yet because they wouldn't have time. Passing through with a good amount of speed, I looked to my right toward my mom and saw the car inches from my car and I immediately pressed down the pedal to a...

Write about what you did over the Fall Break.

Prompt:  Write about what you did over the Fall Break.  Prompt Response: I did not do much over the break, I wanted to hang out with my friend but she was grounded like always, her parents barely let her out the house that involves hanging out with friends. So our way of connection is texting and playing games with each other, it is pathetic to think about it that I might've spent my entire break inside at home playing games with my friend. I also studied and tried to catch up with A PUSH and AP Psych, reviewing the videos and the text. I had fun playing and calling my friend, although I did not do much, I am alright with that and enjoyed talking to her. Summary: Today our assignment is based on Lesson Four vocabulary, where we have to make an entire comic strip with dialogue that contains the vocabulary words. We have to make up a story that can use these words and draw them within the 13 boxes provided. This assignment will be due by Wednesday 10/22 and Mr. Rease said that w...

How do you find time to enjoy your day, even when you have a lot going on? Write about at least three specific things you do to enjoy small moments throughout your day.

Prompt:  How do you find time to enjoy your day, even when you have a lot going on? Write about at least three specific things you do to enjoy small moments throughout your day. Prompt Response: I usually like to take a few minute break on tiktok to boost up my mood, the videos usually consist of a couple of seconds so I could go through a lot of entertainment in just a few videos. It does sound pathetic but I like going online to see people with the same interests as me. Another thing I can do to enjoy my day is texting my friend, talking to her already brings a smile to my face and I feel better talking to her. I also entertain my day by eating my favorite snacks, simple but effective. Summary: Today Mr. Rease gave us the entire class time to continue and finish our argument paragraph, which should be turned in by the end of class or the day. Most had finished early or had turned it in time by the end of class, I took some time within my evidence and I noticed students comi...

Describe a time when someone’s words had a lasting impact on you.

Prompt:  Describe a time when someone’s words had a lasting impact on you. Prompt Response: There isn't really much that I would remember, I guess it does make sense that my mom had words that made a lasting impact on me. They wouldn't be the positive ones you would remember, the words she had said to me when I was much younger did leave an impact on the person I grew up as. But I can say one thing that stayed on my head was when I realized I couldn't see well during pre-k, and when I told my mom about it she said that "glasses make you look ugly, do you want to look ugly?"Because of that I refused to get glasses despite needing it so much for school, I finally got them during 6th grade after years going blind. Summary: Today we continued on where we left off last time, we are to make an argumentative paragraph with the claim we had already done based on the text "Ambush" by Tim O'Brien. Mr. Rease would spectate our work and point out any advice nee...

Write about a dream that felt real.

Prompt:  Write about a dream that felt real.  Prompt Response: I cannot recall any dream that might've felt real, dreams are kind of hard to remember and I am not the type to have realistic dreams. I guess nightmares are the ones that feel more real and that's why they are scary, they are easy to remember at times. Don't judge me but this dream or short nightmare felt real, in the dream I found my sonic the hedgehog CAN bent and ruined and when I found out it was my younger siblings who had done it I started doing wrestling move on them? All I know I was just unhappy with them so much it woke me up. Summary: Today we had to write down 15 vocabulary words from lesson 3 on our notebooks, then on a separate sheet of paper we had to compose an original sentence for each word. After we were done with both of those sheets, we needed to go to NewsELA to complete an assignment on "PRO/CON: Cancel Culture." Within the assignment, we read the text and do the guided highlig...

Write about a moment when you had to step out of your comfort zone.

Prompt:  Write about a moment when you had to step out of your comfort zone.  Prompt Response: My highest score was in 7th grade, when I had finally gotten out of my comfort zone to talk to people and make friends after a whole year of isolation because of quarantine. Mind you, I  haven't made  a friend for myself at all throughout elementary . When quarantine happened, I had no friends during my 6th grade online year, so for 7th grade I forced myself to be more talkative. I succeeded in making  a friend group of 5, although I lost 3 of  them. Those  were the best memories of my life after finally gaining friends  myself, and I wouldn't have met my closest friend if I had not talked. Summary: Today with Mr. Rease we read the text "Ambush" by Tim O'Brien, I was familiar with the author since I read his works in class last year during 10th grade literature honors. After reading the text carefully and breaking down the meaning of it, Mr. Rease e...

Write about something that you believed as a child.

Prompt:  Write about something that you believed as a child. Prompt Response: I believed that buying something online felt more expensive than buying anything physically, for example I always wanted to play Minecraft throughout my entire childhood especially when I see my favorite YouTubers having fun in the game. But I never had the courage to ask my mom to use her credit card to buy the 7 dollar game, because I felt guilty that it was too expensive but I didn't hesitate to ask her to buy toys for me that costs more than the game. The guilt was unbearable I never got to experience the game like my other peers, until last year when I finally asked my mom. Summary: Today's assignment was to complete the  Vocabulary Lesson Two Image Assignment, where you have to select a word from a new set of 15 vocabulary words then find an image for it to explain the meaning and how it matches with the definition. I turned in the work from Friday about 'Identifying Claims', something ...

Write about a conversation that changed you.

Prompt:  Write about a conversation that changed you. Prompt Response: Unfortunately I cannot think of a conversation that could have changed me, even if there was one I do not remember anything nor do I think it was the inspirational kind. I'm pretty sure that I was the one who changed myself without having a conversation, there isn't anything specific in my memories that may support that there was a conversation with someone that changed me.  Summary: Today we learned how to site textual evidence for our assignment, 'Argumentative Writing Evidence', where we were provided with two articles about if social media is more harmful or beneficial for the mental/emotional health and social skills of teenagers. I picked the claim that social media is more harmful, we did our 5 Bubble thing and I wrote 5 reasons why it is harmful, then we had to make a claim about it using three of our reasons. The assignment needed 2 supporting claims, 2 evidences, 2 summaries and 2 sources,...

Write about something you’ve always been curious about.

Prompt:  Write about something you’ve always been curious about. Prompt Response: I have always been curious about how do people can say they are a follower of God but use his name in vain to justify their actions. I am a Catholic and grew up in that religion, although I never really took it that serious, I still had the native mind too think that there a lot of people who are kind and understanding. Of course looking at society today opened my mind about it, 'Christians' would claim they love God but do exactly the opposite of what he means in the Bible. I know there are studies and answers but it still makes me curious as to how people can have the audacity to do that. Summary: Wasn't here today and had to check out of school for a dentist appointment. Heads up the braces I just got off recently made my teeth vulnerable for cavities despite never getting them before in my life until I got braces. So I got a cleaning and unfortunately was told about my cavities.  Reflec...

Write about the best gift you have received.

Prompt:  Write about the best gift you have received.  Prompt Response: It was this one gift I had gotten many years ago, I remember looking out the window from upstairs and saw my dad outside with a huge brown fluffy teddy bear that had a rainbow vintage dress, which he had received from his job. Of course I ran downstairs to go outside and take the bear away, it was taller than me at the time and I loved it. This was the time while my dad was in our lives until he wasn't anymore, my sentimental self at 7 years old cherished the bear and named her 'rainbow coffee'. To this day I still have her in my room and I'm taller than her now, her dress needs stitching. Summary: Today we took the ' Vocabulary for the College Bound Lesson 1 Quiz', which contained the 15 vocabulary words we were supposed to learn back on September 15. I got a 100 on it, mainly because I remembered the quiz and studied the day prior. After everyone took their quiz, we went back to taking so...
