Describe a time when someone’s words had a lasting impact on you.

Prompt: Describe a time when someone’s words had a lasting impact on you.

Prompt Response:

There isn't really much that I would remember, I guess it does make sense that my mom had words that made a lasting impact on me. They wouldn't be the positive ones you would remember, the words she had said to me when I was much younger did leave an impact on the person I grew up as. But I can say one thing that stayed on my head was when I realized I couldn't see well during pre-k, and when I told my mom about it she said that "glasses make you look ugly, do you want to look ugly?"Because of that I refused to get glasses despite needing it so much for school, I finally got them during 6th grade after years going blind.

Summary:

Today we continued on where we left off last time, we are to make an argumentative paragraph with the claim we had already done based on the text "Ambush" by Tim O'Brien. Mr. Rease would spectate our work and point out any advice needed to fix it, I know I took my time thinking and the assignment is supposed to be done by tomorrow.  Unfortunately I did not complete it by the end of class so I will need to work on it at home or during class time tomorrow.

Reflection:

I like the idea of how the prompt can be arguable and that some people could contradict themselves, I certainly had trouble picking a side and how to argue it. To use the text "Ambush" was not difficult, it helped support my ideas that killing someone could be considered a "good kill." Despite not being able to get far, I liked how this stimulated my brain to write.
