You’ve been in American Literature for 4.5 weeks now. How has the class been going for you so far?

Prompt: You’ve been in American Literature for 4.5 weeks now. How has the class been going for you so far?

Prompt Response:

Class has been doing well lately, I don't really feel like I'm stressed with the need to know something, my classmates are pretty funny in their own way. Good vibes in the class, it's also the last class of the day so it's pretty chill in there. The learning has been at a nice pace and not thrown at my face, I don't feel like I'm messing out on anything and that my brain is caught up with the rest of the others.

Summary:

Today we looked over the poem "Because I could not stop for Death." by Emily Dickinson with Mr. Rease. We spent the entire class time analyzing the poem and writing down annotations, Mr. Rease was quick to understand and highlight anything important. He had told us that there will be a test or quiz by Friday over poems and that by the end of the year he was sure we will gain the ability to read and understand poems.

Reflection:

I learned that you need a lot of experience to immediately recognize the message in the poem and to annotate it with no problem. It takes some time and that you need to look closely into the words.
