How has completing the annotated bibliography changed or clarified your understanding of your research topic? Discuss how your sources connect to one another and how they are shaping your argument moving forward.

Prompt:  How has completing the annotated bibliography changed or clarified your understanding of your research topic? Discuss how your sources connect to one another and how they are shaping your argument moving forward. Prompt Response: It changed or clarified my understanding of my research topic by helping me understand how different an impact the U.S. immigration policies have on their own country and onto others. I get to understand how the United States handles immigration or migration. Whether its economically, socially, or politically, I see how different it is in each situation. Summary: Today we continued to work on our Annotated Bibliography, it is due by the end of class or 11:59 PM. Mr. Rease wanted us to work on it all class with effort put into it, if he saw no progress he would take points off of it. I had already turned in mine before the 7th period, I only needed to revise it. Reflection:  Today was a simple day for me, although my goal was to fully re...

Which part of the annotated bibliography (summary, reflection, or evaluation) was the most challenging for you, and why? Explain how that challenge helped you grow as a researcher and how it will help you when writing your research paper.

Prompt:  Which part of the annotated bibliography (summary, reflection, or evaluation) was the most challenging for you, and why? Explain how that challenge helped you grow as a researcher and how it will help you when writing your research paper. Prompt Response: All three was pretty easy for me, nothing was too challenging, I only struggled for a bit starting it off with the image but other than that it was easy. But I do take more time and thinking with the reflection, the summary naturally takes me time without needing much of a thought. Summary: Today Mr. Rease introduced us to our new assignment in Writable, the Annotated Bibliography, reading over the instructions and looking at the examples we got the gist of it. For each source we have to write a paragraph with their summary, reflection, and evaluation. It took a lot of time for the each of us to even be around half the work, depends on the student, but Mr. Rease had mercy on us to allow us to turn it in on Friday instead....

As you gathered sources, you were expected to find multiple perspectives on your topic. What differences did you notice between your sources? Explain how these differences helped you better understand the complexity of your issue.

Prompt:    As you gathered sources, you were expected to find multiple perspectives on your topic. What differences did you notice between your sources? Explain how these differences helped you better understand the complexity of your issue. Prompt Response: The differences I noticed between my sources was the variety of choices of any possibilities that involves with border control and immigration. But then again I may be spouting nonsense, these differences did help me better understand the complexity of my issue, allowing me to see how much influence there is in the world when it came to immigration, migration, or border control. Especially with how effective the U.S. immigration policies can be with modern migration challenges.  Summary: Today Mr. Rease showed us how to find sources on the Data/Statistic Source part, he then told us what we needed to have and do for today. After the lesson, we were told to continue working on our sources and warned by Mr. Rease ...

Think about your experience using GALILEO to find sources. How was this different from how you have searched for information in the past? Explain how using specific search strategies and evaluating sources impacted the quality of what you found.

Prompt:  Think about your experience using GALILEO to find sources. How was this different from how you have searched for information in the past? Explain how using specific search strategies and evaluating sources impacted the quality of what you found. Prompt Response: I don't see much of a difference from how I have searched for information in the past, I guess the only difference is how much information was needed and using more resources. Using specific strategies and evaluating sources had impacted the quality of what I found by giving me more opportunities to find more legitimacy with my research. Summary: Today Mr. Rease went over the steps on how to build our research by locating credible, diverse sources using GALILEO and EasyBib. We spent the entire class time learning how we could use these sites and what we had to work on. Reflection: I admit I was once again drowsy and sleep, in and out of it, but I did try to pay attention and got most of the information I need...

Think about how you have searched for information in the past compared to what you practiced today. How is creating specific search phrases different from just “Googling” a topic? Explain how this strategy will improve the quality of your research.

Prompt:   Think about how you have searched for information in the past compared to what you practiced today. How is creating specific search phrases different from just “Googling” a topic? Explain how this strategy will improve the quality of your research. Prompt Response: Creating specific search phrases is different from just googling a topic because it helps with precision when finding answers and it eliminates more of the information people are not looking for. This strategy will improve the quality of our research by allowing us to get more accurate results and answers, making our research more structured.  Summary:  Today Mr. Rease was not here so we had to complete an assignment he left us in CommonLit. The class period was long enough to complete the work before the end of the day, the majority of the class did their part. We had to read and answer questions, after doing 6 of those there was an assessment to complete with a total of 5 questions. Reflection...

Political cartoons often use exaggeration and symbolism to make a point, and they can also serve as important visual sources for analysis. What is being criticized in this image? What does this source suggest about the issue, and what does the cartoonist want the audience to question or reconsider?

Prompt:  Political cartoons often use exaggeration and symbolism to make a point, and they can also serve as important visual sources for analysis. What is being criticized in this image? What does this source suggest about the issue, and what does the cartoonist want the audience to question or reconsider? Prompt Response: Looking or analyzing the image, President Trump is being criticized in the image, the source suggests the issue with the war between the United States and Iran, along with Israel. The cartoonist wants the audience to question the destruction happening in their own country rather than get distracted or waste time having a war with another country. While also having some part of the audience to reconsider whether they should trust the President's words and actions, if the war would be worth it when their own country is in distress. Summary: Today we had to open Writable and look over a practice assignment with Mr. Rease as a class. There were 6 sources and w...

Your research question is designed to explore a complex issue. What makes this topic difficult to answer or solve? Identify at least two different perspectives or factors related to your topic and explain why understanding multiple viewpoints is important.

Prompt:   Your research question is designed to explore a complex issue. What makes this topic difficult to answer or solve? Identify at least two different perspectives or factors related to your topic and explain why understanding multiple viewpoints is important. Prompt Response: This topic that I have, border control / immigration, is somewhat difficult for me to answer or solve, I don't want to mix up my bias views on the situation to effect the way I will try to research this question. With the state of this country today and the current immigration situation, I have to see the majority of my people be treated worse and other immigrants. Two different perspectives or factors related to my topic would be those who see the deportation as part of national security and necessary, while the other side would oppose the harsh treatment and advocate for humane treatment. Understanding multiple viewpoints is important because can help people avoid a bias opinion on a resear...

Reflect on your past experiences with research in school. What challenges have you faced when working independently or in a group, and how did you handle them? Explain how those experiences will influence the way you approach this current research project.

Prompt:   Reflect on your past experiences with research in school. What challenges have you faced when working independently or in a group, and how did you handle them? Explain how those experiences will influence the way you approach this current research project. Prompt Response: I don't remember my full experience with research in school, it would have been either easy or difficult to do independently, probably more easier working in a group. If I were to handle a challenge, I'll either ask for assistance and advice from the teacher or just keep trying. With these experiences I will succeed or suffer from this project. Summary: Today we did a kahoot together as a class, it was based on the common knowledge that people would have, after we were done with the game, Mr. Rease put us into groups of three with a generator. Each group was assigned with a research topic and were placed  As a group we had to work on a short packet of 2 pages, discussing our topics and fillin...

If you could plan the perfect spring break with no limitation, money, time, or responsibilities—what would it look like? Where would you go, who would you bring, and what would you do?

Prompt: I f you could plan the perfect spring break with no limitation, money, time, or responsibilities—what would it look like? Where would you go, who would you bring, and what would you do? Prompt Response: I would like to go to Greece, see anything of ancient Rome, go around the world to see history and enjoy all kinds of food. I wouldn't really bring anyone but a friend, I also would like to see my favorite artists since the majority of them aren't even in America. I would also love to do world domination, but unfortunately that might not be possible, it depends. Summary: For this class on Friday, we were assigned an assignment for CommonLit since Mr. Rease isn't here, he allowed us to work on it early on Thursday, so that we can get a head start if we want.  Reflection: I can reflect that life is good, the work today wasn't too hard and I've been sleeping good lately.

McCandless set out to live independently in the wilderness, but his death reveals the harsh reality of nature and survival. In your blog post, analyze how his desire for independence contributed to his death. Then, connect this idea to your own life by explaining a time when you wanted complete independence or control over a situation. Did things go as planned, or did you face unexpected challenges?

Promp t:  McCandless set out to live independently in the wilderness, but his death reveals the harsh reality of nature and survival. In your blog post, analyze how his desire for independence contributed to his death. Then, connect this idea to your own life by explaining a time when you wanted complete independence or control over a situation. Did things go as planned, or did you face unexpected challenges?  Prompt Response: His desire for independence led him to refuse to have any way to contact the outside world, pushed away his family without letting them know where he is, and pushed away anyone else leaving behind human connection. This left him without any help to call for nor did he have a way to contact the outside world, so he died all alone incapacitated and weak. There was not a time I wanted complete independence over a situation but I did want some sense of control, again I don't recall a time since I rarely even think about those stuff. Knowing me and how ...

How does watching the film version of Into the Wild change or deepen your understanding of Chris McCandless compared to reading the book? In your response, explain one key difference in how his character or experiences are presented, and connect this to a time when seeing something visually changed your understanding of a situation.

Prompt:  How does watching the film version of  Into the Wild  change or deepen your understanding of Chris McCandless compared to reading the book? In your response, explain one key difference in how his character or experiences are presented, and connect this to a time when seeing something visually changed your understanding of a situation. Prompt Response: The film helped me understand Chris more, but not too much compared to the book, from the book I had a good understanding of his character but it was the film that made it easier to emphasize with him and know him as if I know him personally. His character or experiences were presented as idealistic and someone who is actually having the time of his life. I guess this connects to a time when I saw something that visually changed my understanding of a situation was when I see any type of destruction and evidence caused in other countries, pushing the reality and truth on what is really happening, such as the si...
