Prompt: After two weeks of studying rhetorical devices, types of rhetoric, and methods for identifying rhetorical techniques, which rhetorical device do you find most effective or compelling, and why?

Prompt Response:

I think the rhetorical device I find most compelling is the 'Antithesis'. I'm not entirely sure why, but I like reading the sentences with two ideas in a balanced sentence to emphasize their differences. It's easy to understand and just about anyone can easily make one.

Summary:

Today we worked on our test "Rhetorical Device", despite the original plan to take it on Tuesday. It had around 40 questions to complete, it was based on the rhetorical devices we had learned and on the previous works we did. It mentioned the speeches of both Trump and MLK, while also mentioning the movie clips we had watched previously in the week. Everybody managed to complete it by the end of class and apparently the class averaged around 50%, not ideal. With only one person with an A, I passed with an 82.

Reflection:

I can reflect that if you did study on the study guide and the work that we had done, the test should have been quite easy to do and anyone could've passed it. I know that I studied the rhetorical devices but with some reason I confused them with each other sometimes, regardless I think I did well and understand the majority of rhetorical devices.
