Prompt: Think about a moment when your understanding of your family changed as you got older. How did that shift impact your perspective, and how does that connect to Chris’s realization about his parents in Chapter 11?

Prompt Response:

I doubt I would remember a moment where my understanding of my family had changed, I think my view of them stayed the same. I was a very hateful kid and a cramped apartment full of annoying kids younger than me, gave me a lot of anger issues. To this day, I still can barely tolerate them and do not have a deep relationship with them, we can laugh at times but it won't change how quick they can change my mood. I guess it can somewhat connect to Chris's realization about his parents when he viewed them to be some type of evil dictators who doesn't really understand him and restricts his freedom, his perspective did not change as much after he left.

Summary:

Today we were given two worksheets to work on, Mr. Rease only went over one of them with us. We had a few minutes to work on the 1st one, it was a "Family Background Reflection Worksheet" and had us talk about what we wrote down. After the lesson, he told us to read chapter 11 independently and work on the other sheet for homework.

Reflection:

I can reflect that I have a deeper understanding of McCandles' family and how he grew up to the person he was when he died. It helped remind me that he was a human being who had a family, a childhood, was a kid at some point and his personality.

Reflect on your research topic and identify the most compelling issue connected to it. Clearly explain what the issue is and discuss why you find it particularly interesting or important. Support your response with specific details from your research.

As the first semester comes to an end, take time to reflect on your learning and growth in this course. In a well-developed response, explain what you enjoyed most about the class, identify the project or assignment you found most engaging, and discuss which aspect of the course you connected with the most (such as poetry, fiction, writing, or discussion). Finally, reflect on one area where you feel you need additional support or improvement as we move into the spring semester.
