Prompt: How does watching the film version of Into the Wild change or deepen your understanding of Chris McCandless compared to reading the book? In your response, explain one key difference in how his character or experiences are presented, and connect this to a time when seeing something visually changed your understanding of a situation.
Prompt Response:
The film helped me understand Chris more, but not too much compared to the book, from the book I had a good understanding of his character but it was the film that made it easier to emphasize with him and know him as if I know him personally. His character or experiences were presented as idealistic and someone who is actually having the time of his life. I guess this connects to a time when I saw something that visually changed my understanding of a situation was when I see any type of destruction and evidence caused in other countries, pushing the reality and truth on what is really happening, such as the situation (Genocide) in Palestine.
Summary:
Today we continued to watch the film and answered the three questions on the front page of our worksheet, the majority of the class finished the work and turned it in by the end of the class.
Reflection:
I can reflect that the film was enjoyable to watch and I managed to answer the questions quite easily without any problems.
