Prompt: McCandless set out to live independently in the wilderness, but his death reveals the harsh reality of nature and survival. In your blog post, analyze how his desire for independence contributed to his death. Then, connect this idea to your own life by explaining a time when you wanted complete independence or control over a situation. Did things go as planned, or did you face unexpected challenges?

Prompt Response:

His desire for independence led him to refuse to have any way to contact the outside world, pushed away his family without letting them know where he is, and pushed away anyone else leaving behind human connection. This left him without any help to call for nor did he have a way to contact the outside world, so he died all alone incapacitated and weak. There was not a time I wanted complete independence over a situation but I did want some sense of control, again I don't recall a time since I rarely even think about those stuff. Knowing me and how things usually work out for me, sometimes things go as I planned and other times it would become difficult.

Summary:

Today we finished reading and summarizing the book "Into The Wild", then we continued to finish the film while noting down 10 things we noticed about the film. Mr. Rease had the funny idea to pull an April's fools on us, saying we needed to write 10 paragraphs with 7 sentences till the end of class.

Reflection:

I can reflect that I have grown to like McCandle's story and his character, the film was also nice to watch, I know I'll recommended it to my older sister.
