When you are in a mood that you do not like, what are some strategies that you use to change your mood?

Prompt:  When you are in a mood that you do not like, what are some strategies that you use to change your mood?  Prompt Response:  Whenever I'm in a mood that I do not like, I usually just go on my phone or lock myself in my room for total peace and quiet. If I do not have that option during public then I cannot change it until I walk into a class that I like or until I get out of school to use my phone. My mood also becomes better the moment my friend talks to me, which is wonderful in my opinion. Summary: Today Mr. REASE was not here, so we have an assignment he left us on NewELA, about a text called " Scientists finally know why icy surfaces are so slippery", we were supposed to answer the questions and do a written response by the end of it. We had a sub to look over us, while the all the boys created their little hangout area by connecting their desks together. We still need up finishing the assignment by the end of class as it should have been. Reflection: I ...

Describe your personal approach to creativity. What steps do you follow when you’re working on a project. Tell me about a project you created that you were most proud of.

Prompt:  Describe your personal approach to creativity. What steps do you follow when you’re working on a project. Tell me about a project you created that you were most proud of.  Prompt Response: I have no creativity, I can't create a story immediately nor can I think of any ideas that would scream creative. I struggle to come up with things from my mind, but I can say that this art project I liked doing was a ceramic as a paint pallet. The steps I follow while working on a project is to plan and research what I would like to do, since I am not creative enough to think of it on the spot. That paint pallet was a little something I was proud of, I get to use it anytime I need to paint something for another small project of mine. Summary: Today we worked on Vocabullary Lesson 8, based on the text 'The Unlikely Hero' and on a separate sheet of paper we were to write down the 15 vocabulary words. This assignment was independent and it had questions to answer, the last coupl...

Choose a vocabulary word that resonates with you personally. Write a blog post explaining why this word is significant to you, including any personal memories or experiences that link you to the word.

Prompt:  Choose a vocabulary word that resonates with you personally. Write a blog post explaining why this word is significant to you, including any personal memories or experiences that link you to the word. Prompt Response: The vocabulary word that resonated with my personality more is "Gibberish". When I was growing up I had problems with speaking both English and Spanish, they had to pull my out of class to take speech lessons. I can admit that it was hard to understand what I was saying, I mostly spoke gibberish to people and I wasn't the smartest of the bunch. When I started to speak more to other people, my social skills were so bad it just seemed like I was speaking gibberish without making an actual conversation.  Summary: Today we had a school walkout before 7th period, the majority of the school participated. Once the walkout was over, we headed to our classes for 7th period, Mr. Rease was not here today and we had to go to a different class, room 1202, with ...

Prompt: After two weeks of studying rhetorical devices, types of rhetoric, and methods for identifying rhetorical techniques, which rhetorical device do you find most effective or compelling, and why?

Prompt:   After two weeks of studying rhetorical devices, types of rhetoric, and methods for identifying rhetorical techniques, which rhetorical device do you find most effective or compelling, and why? Prompt Response:  I think the rhetorical device I find most compelling is the 'Antithesis'. I'm not entirely sure why, but I like reading the sentences with two ideas in a balanced sentence to emphasize their differences. It's easy to understand and just about anyone can easily make one. Summary: Today we worked on our test "Rhetorical Device", despite the original plan to take it on Tuesday. It had around 40 questions to complete, it was based on the rhetorical devices we had learned and on the previous works we did. It mentioned the speeches of both Trump and MLK, while also mentioning the movie clips we had watched previously in the week. Everybody managed to complete it by the end of class and apparently the class averaged around 50%, not ideal. With only ...

Write about a time you didn’t feel like yourself.

Prompt:  Write about a time you didn’t feel like yourself. Prompt Response: I don't think there was a time when I didn't feel like myself, I had always been myself whether that's a good thing or not. I haven't changed as much nor do I barely act different from myself towards other people. I like to stay consistent with myself and I never liked the idea of stepping out of my comfort zone so I stayed the same. Summary: Today we worked on Martin Luther King Jr.'s speech, with a worksheet and Mr Rease, we read through the speech and pointed out anything that referred to any rhetorical device. It helped us gain some experience and a different perspective, so we can be ready for the quiz/test next Tuesday. We managed to finish by the end of class with a lot of time to spare. Reflection: I liked the practice of using and spotting out these rhetorical devices through such an important speech, it did change my perspective to notice how these devices can be used.

Reflect on a time when you had to rely on someone else. How did it feel?

Prompt:  Reflect on a time when you had to rely on someone else. How did it feel? Prompt Response: I have many experiences where I relied on someone, like my mom and older sister, it feels nice to have help and assistance with something I clearly don't know what to do. I don't rely on anybody else though, I am not very social nor was there any special moment where I had to rely on someone for something. Summary: Today we started to learn three more rhetorical words, Procatalepsis, Distinctio, and Simile. On a sheet of paper, we wrote down their definitions and worked on the exercises for practice. We were able to understand most of this and managed to make our examples. Eventually time ran out before we could start the rhetorical exercises for Simile and have to continue tomorrow.  Reflection: I learned that I was not entirely good or perfect when it came to practice these words, but I was at least decent and it was nice to do something productive.

What life skills have you learned in high school that will help you live independently after high school? Which skills do you think are essential for your success after high school?

Prompt:  What life skills have you learned in high school that will help you live independently after high school? Which skills do you think are essential for your success after high school?  Prompt Response: I fear I do not know anything useful I learned in high school that wil l help me live independently after high school, I think the essential skills that can help me succeed after high school is how to do taxes, pay the bills, manage a good credit score, social skills, and driving, etc. So far I don't got any of these skills, so I might be doomed and school doesn't really teach real world skills, they just expect the majority to go to college and focus onto that rather than things that can help us survive the adult world. It depends really. Summary: Today we worked on a worksheet with Mr. Rease on types of rhetorical devices, through a PowerPoint he showed us all these words to copy down in our documents as notes. Then we looked over with a video and a PDF file over ...

Describe a place where you feel the most at peace and explain why.

Prompt:  Describe a place where you feel the most at peace and explain why. Prompt Response: I feel the most at peace in my room, because it is my own personal space where no one bothers me. I grew up with a lot of younger siblings and everyday its always loud or overwhelming, so I need my own time away from all of that. Especially when it comes to avoiding my mom, I get to do what I want in my room and relax.  Summary: Today we continued to work on our previous notes on 'simile' and learned two more rhetorical words, metaphor and analogy. We spent the whole block period writing down their definitions and practicing exercises. There were some complications when it came to writing down examples and sentences.  Reflection: I learned that I am horrible with this stuff, I can comprehend the definitions but it was difficult to make up sentences based on each rhetorical word. My mind goes blank and suddenly all my experiences and vocabulary disappeared, it made it hard to...

Describe a time when you took a hiatus from something important. What led to the break, and how did it impact you?

Prompt:  Describe a time when you took a  hiatus  from something important. What led to the break, and how did it impact you? Prompt Response: I do not ever recall taking a hiatus from something important, if I was required to go somewhere then I had to go, I barely have a choice to take a hiatus. It would be nice to take a break from things I wouldn't want to do, even if I was sick or did not feel good I still had to go to school or any other place.  Summary: Today we learned two more rhetorical devices with Mr. Rease, Antithesis and Hypophora, we wrote down each definition on a sheet of paper and did the exercises required. We worked on it as a class together and shared our answers to the class, the work was not too difficult to understand and the majority of the class understood.  Reflection: Today I reflected that the words weren't too hard to understand nor was it hard to make examples of it. It was nice to look back into rhetorical words and relearn ...

Use a hyperbole, an understatement, and a litotes to describe today's lesson.

Prompt:   Use a hyperbole, an understatement, and a litotes to describe today's lesson.  Prompt Response:      Hyperbole - The class was too talkative I couldn't hear my own thoughts.     Understatement - The lesson wasn't too hard, even with everyone confused.     Litotes -   Today's lesson was not that bad to learn. (These are definitely not perfect) Summary: Today we worked on rhetorical devices, hyperbole, understatement, and litotes. On a sheet of paper we wrote down each definition and notes, while also creating our own rhetorical sentences. Mr. Rease reviewed them with us through the board and book, he also helped correct our sentences. We did a specific format in the left corner of the sheet and titled the sheet center on the first line.  Reflection: Today I learned that I had clearly not gotten any practice on these rhetorical devices growing up, the only one would probably be hyperbole but that was so long ago. ...

In 2–3 well-developed sentences, reflect on how you spent your Holiday Break. Then, identify four personal you would like to achieve this year and briefly explain why each goal is important to you (Copy and paste your completed response from Writable into your blog).

Prompt:  In 2–3 well-developed sentences, reflect on how you spent your Holiday Break. Then, identify four personal goals you would like to achieve this year and briefly explain why each goal is important to you  (Copy and paste your completed response from Writable into your blog). Prompt Response: Throughout the entire two week break, I did nothing special nor did I really go out, I spent most of my time resting and being with my family at home. My mom would take us to church and visit my aunt's resting place, it was her one year anniversary death. Eventually I did get to spend a 2 day sleepover with my friend and play games with her.  (Copy Paste) 1. My first goal for this year is to earn my permit, which I should've done long ago.  The importance of this goal is that it will help me move forward as an independent adult and get things over with, making life easier. 2. My second goal of the year would be to pass my AP exams in May.  This is important because ...
